Governor Christie Proclaims July Smart
Once again, the Governor has proclaimed July as Smart Irrigation Month in New Jersey. Click here for your copy of the proclamation and include it on your website along with tips for water conservation and irrigation. There's no better time for this as rainfall averages are low this year.
LICEB Transfer Reaches Governor's Desk
The New Jersey General Assembly has unanimously approved legislation transferring the Licensed Irrigation Contractors Examiners Board-the regulators that make and enforce the rules that govern our profession-from the Department of Environmental Protection to the Department of Community Affairs. This development comes shortly after the Senate's unanimous approval late last month, meaning that the measure is now on the Governor's desk; a signature away from enactment.
If approved, our licensure board will be housed in the same Department that promulgates and enforces the Universal Construction Code, and oversees the municipal code inspectors we work with every day.
Our job is not over; the Governor still has to sign the bill. When and if that happens, our next task will be working to ensure that the transfer happens smoothly and that the Department of Community Affairs is ready and able to take on the fly-by-night, unlicensed contractors who put our industry and customers at risk.
Thank you all again for your membership and support, and congratulations!

ANNUAL MEETING 2014
In conjunction with the New Jersey Turfgrass & Landscape Conference, held at The Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa, in Atlantic City, NJ, the IANJ Annual Meeting was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014.
The new venue of The Borgata for the Green Expo and NJ Turfgrass & Landscape Conference was an excellent draw for IANJ members to come out for the annual meeting. And the event did not disappoint. In addition to the keynote speaker, Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi, one of the industry’s own, attendees recognized the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award and updates on the activities of the association.
IANJ Lifetime Achievement Award Winners: George McCarthy, Bob Dobson, Orlando Dirienzo, Phil DeMarco, and Ed Santalone, Sr.
Orlando Dirienzo receives his Lifetime Achievement Award from Mike Edmiston.
