Registration

  • In February of 2015, New Jersey regulations under N.J.A.C. 13:60 were enacted to make state regulated vehicles comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Rules and Regulations (FMCSRs). This means that vehicles that previously only had to comply with FMCSRs when crossing state lines would have to do so even if they never leave New Jersey. Perhaps one of the biggest changes under this new regulation, is that vehicles with the gross weight at which compliance is required has changed from 26,000 lbs. to 10,000 lbs. Landscapers, construction and otherwise smaller companies utilizing trucks that used to be under a lot less regulatory scrutiny now must have the same as an interstate carrier. IANJ is working closely with the NJDOT and State Police to educate members on the new rules. This is a repeat seminar that was offered in March and June of this year.
